Canada-wide Campaign Raises Awareness about the Power of Franchising

TORONTO – April 4, 2016 – The Canadian Franchise Association (CFA) has announced April 19 to be Franchise Awareness Day to raise awareness about a business model that contributes over $ 68 billion annually to Canada’s economy, employs one in every 14 working Canadians, and helps aspiring entrepreneurs achieve their dreams of business ownership.

CFA will be celebrating the first-ever Franchise Awareness Day with a landmark event on Parliament Hill, bringing together the largest number of franchise business leaders in Ottawa’s history to meet with politicians to inform them about the power and opportunity of franchising.

Canadians from across the country are invited to participate in Franchise Awareness Day by visiting, an educational website featuring franchise facts, statistics, and success stories of Canadians whose lives have been positively impacted by franchising. Canadians are also encouraged to participate through social media by using #FranchiseAwareness to share these facts and stories, as well as their own personal stories of franchise success.

“At its heart, franchising is about sharing success and that’s exactly what Franchise Awareness Day is all about,” says Lorraine McLachlan, CFA’s President and CEO. “Our goal is for Canadians to come together on April 19 to celebrate franchising’s contributions to Canada and spread the word about its positive impact on communities across Canada.”

CFA will also be delivering that message directly to politicians on Franchise Awareness Day through in-person meetings on Parliament Hill. Says McLachlan: “We want to ensure government understands the positive contributions franchising makes to the economy and recognizes the vital importance of franchising to the lives of Canadians.” To learn more, visit
